Pressing a switch is a normal thing for everyone. But it is not normal for people with disabilities to turn on the lights. People call a person who behave differently from themselves as abnormal. Then, what is ‘normal’? I started with the keyword of basic instinct. When a person is born, the person first comes into contact with the mother. A baby know ‘tactile impression’ by touching a mother because of the desire to eat breast milk and be in my mother’s arms. A human has a desire to touch with the body when becoming an adult.

I wanted to create product that stimulates tactile impressions of the user who is normal or abnormal. Anyone, normal or abnormal, can operate the switch according to instinct. People just touch the protruding parts of their instincts.

Motivation

Basic Instinct

There is an instinctive behaviour without the need for someone to teach. I found it in a baby that every human being could do naturally.

The type of touch

The suckle comes from the form of a mother’s nipple. I took an idea of the shape of their mother’s nipple. Plus, a survey has shown preference for touch. Among them, ‘softness’ was the largest. The final piece of material was chosen as silicon.

Radial of Shapes

I studied a radical that is comfort when touched. Various conditions, such as angle and height, were suggested and the optimum shape was found.
